CITARÁ CLIFFS

Thanks for reading again, I have not stop traveling arround Colombia and for this new post, I find out some photos of my most recent trip in the southwestern of Antioquia (state) in Colombia, also, de department of the very city known as Medellín. In this trip, I travel from this city about 160km.  In time, takes about 3 hours’ drive this distance because the hard ways of this country, remember that three arms of the Andes Mountains cross this land, and this is what we are going to talk about.

Ciudad Bolivar is a municipality located from the main city (Medellín- Capital) at 3 hours in a very hard but beautiful drive (landscapes) through the mountains, and when I say this, please stop thinking that you´ll probably find Tarzan here.

Once we are here, we are to trip about 35 minutes to a place that locals call “Corregimiento” that is a little town near the Main-Town.  After this time above dirt road, we get the FARALLONES “Valley” (for say “Corregimiento” in some way) and here, you will have to look up to the marvelous mountain in front of you, you won’t believe but his top has about 4008maslv, and get the top is possible asking for a man named Ivan Solis, this guy can take you to the top in three days.

The state history says that in the 90`s there was an airplane flying from Uraba to some town in the southwestern of the department when suddenly crashed against the top of this very long chain of mountains (about 120km of the occidental Andes Mountain`s arm) and for sure, he is going to you the crashed airplane (tail) just finishing the climb.

For this trip, I did not planned to climb, but after met this guy, you be sure that my next photos will be over there.

Oh! I have some info about visitors, there was a guy (Ivan says) that came from EU and said that this is most exciting that Colorado Canon.

Well, believe this is up to you, and remember that this is not a blog for tourist, but for travelers.

Meet other travelers (the Farallones valley is very very small, but when I went there I found a film production team of NEXPRESSO recording a coffee commercial)

Your skin will be ok, temperature is about 18- 22C  (not at the top for sure)

COFFEE LANDSCAPE

In Antioquia we produce the best coffee of the world.

For years, the Colombian Coffee has been preferred in the whole world for those who know all the confidence that a simple cup of coffee can give as you drink it. TV commercials and a lot of different kind of publicities have tried with success of curse, to sell our coffee, even if they don´t really know the real world behind the images. If you, dear reader want to know about coffee and the manufacturing connected with a huge effort to produce coffee in mountains with 30° of inclination you should come to Antioquia Southwestern in Colombia.

Tips:

Colombian coffee must be collected by hand; the topography allows not another way to do.

Just, a few of Colombians knows about coffee, the majority are still drinking proceeded coffee (that are not really coffee but “pasilla” the worst from coffee plus another ingredients) by big factories.

There is one new technique to prepare coffee named “Nexpreso” be sure that it is not coffee 100% well conserved.

Antioquia Southwestern keeps the natural promotion of the premium coffees with artisanal works to promote in the country, the consume of the coffees that we use to export “The best for the locals”

The coffee crisis started in the bad administration of the riches that became from the product.

ANTIOQUIA SOUTHWERSTERN ESPECIALS COFFEES

There are a lot of especial coffees in this sub region actually. Even when they grow in the same land, you can taste a lot of different proprieties in each one: Candies, wines, chocolates, citrus, and tobacco. The most commons, for example in Jerico town are the honeyed ones.

Come to this land, with the company of a qualified guide to enter to the coffee farms and meet the process by yourself.

·         Visit to the Coffee Farm to learn by the producer family the essential of the coffee production.

·         Visit to coffee shop A to learn three different ways for prepare coffee.

·         Visit to coffee shop B to learn and see the tostión process of the coffee bean.
